Real County Historical Museum – It’s the Real Deal!
Just 21 miles East of Camp Wood via Ranch Rd 337 is Leakey, Texas – a teeny town with a big personality. Take a little day trip to Leakey to visit the Real County Historical Museum. It’s open on Fridays and Saturdays, March through mid-December. According to a lovingly hand-written notice…
And that’s just what this museum does. You’ll see ornately carved stagecoaches, brass bedsteads, old-timey movie posters, antique clothing, wagon wheels, paintings of Hill Country, player pianos, Victrolas, love seats, crocheted doilies, weapons, farm implements, taxidermy animals, and old-fashioned gizmos you’ve never even heard of. There’s a gift shop too.
The Museum is located ½ block north of the Real County Courthouse on Evergreen Street in Downtown Leakey. Need more info? Call (830) 232-5330.
This Museum was created to help preserve the history and the heritage of Real County. It is our desire to bring to life for you, the way our pioneer families lived in these beautiful hills.
